On a recent buying trip to Italy, we found these beautiful Nativities. Meticulously handcrafted and handpainted by a family of artisans in the hills outside of Lucca, Italy, this Nativity is a wonderful way to bring the true meaning on Christmas into your home this holiday season! The term creche was coined after Saint Francis of Assisi celebrated Midnight Mass in a stable where men and animals reenacted the Christmas story. The crèche, derived from the German word krippe or crib, refers to the animals’ manger in which Christ was born. It later became known as the place of the Nativity, or the Nativity. The Nativity scene joins together Mary, Joseph, the baby Jesus, shepherds, angels, and on Epiphany, the Wise Men. Each figurine measures approximately 3 inches in height. Stable measures 8 1/2 inches in height by 12 inches in width.
