Angel Comforting Christ Figure 4.00 out of 5

By: Linda in Warwick, NY (USA, March 27, 2010)
Pros: Very touching image;
Cons: The coloring;
Best Uses: Displayed at home; Displayed in a shrine; Displayed at church;
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
When I saw this displayed on the screen at the web site, the statue had a porcelain look to it. I knew it was made of resin, but on screen it looked shinier and whiter. I am a person who ususally likes very bright paint on my figurines and plaques. I either want bright vibrant colors or an all out whiter, brighter shine to them. I'm sure each statue is painted by hand and will possibly turn out a little different each time. The one I received has darker paint highlighting the separation in the angel's feathers. The angel is quite a bit darker than the image on screen. I think if the painting had been different, I would have loved it. I still like it a lot, but you know what I mean. This figure for me depicts Christ going through his 40 days in the desert and also his torment in the Garden of Gethsemane. I have a little shrine area where I have the Blessed Virgin Mary with the Infant Jesus; The Holy Family; Jesus with a lamb symbolizing his teaching and preaching; then I have this statue of the Angel Comforting Christ for his time in the desert and his agony at Gethsemane; Jesus praying next to a stone in the Garden of Gethsemane; Jesus carrying his Cross; Jesus on the Cross; the Painted Face of Christ in a Thorn Crown Bust; and then one of Christ risen. This particular statue works well in my shrine. I love the idea of the angel comforting Christ.
