The Baltimore Catechism was the Gold Standard of Catholic education from 1885 to the 1960s. Commissioned by the Third Council of Bishops in Baltimore, it is known for its easy to read question and answer format combining solid Catholic doctrinal teaching with meaningful exposure to Scripture and practical application.
Original Baltimore Catechism
A clear, concise, uncomplicated, and friendly presentation of the truths of the Faith. An invaluable teaching tool to prepare children and catechumens to receive the Sacraments and lead authentic Catholic lives. Four age appropriate texts instruct children as they mature.
Baltimore Catechism 1
33 lessons present the basics of the Catholic Faith in a manner suitable for First Communicants through fifth graders.
Baltimore Catechism 3
37 lessons intended for students who have received their Confirmation and/or are high schoolers (grades 10-12).
St. Joseph Revised Baltimore Catechism
The Revised Catechism is based on the 1885 original, but combines modern outlook and language with a solid time-tested exposition of the teaching of the Church. Pictures and Sacred Scripture have been added to aid in understanding each lesson.
