Blessed Marie of New France was born in Tours, France in 1599. Her family were devout Catholics. Marie was married and had a son, but after her husband's death she joined an Ursuline convent where she was given the name Marie of the Incarnation. In 1639, Marie traveled with the first group of women to arrive in New France (parts of northern United States and Canada) as missionaries. She worked diligently to share the Catholic faith until her death in 1672. Her feast day is April 30th.
