Does it sometimes seem that the Mass just happens while you sit there? Maybe you are a recent convert, or perhaps you've attended Mass your whole life, but there are still things that puzzle you - like when you should genuflect and when you should bow...what the different books used at Mass are and what they contain...the meaning of the words such as "Amen," Alleluia," or "Hosanna"...what to do during the sign of peace.

Here's the help you need to make the Mass an active religious experience!

How should you enter the church? How should you listen to the Scriptures? What if the homily seems boring? The How-To Book of the Mass not only provides the who, what, where, when and why of the most time-honored traditions of the Catholic Church, but also the how. In a simple, easy-to-read style, this book gives you suggestions to help you "get something" out of the Mass every time.

You'll learn how to pray at Mass, how to hear a great homily every time, and how to experience the Mass as an encounter with our Risen Lord. If you've ever wished the Mass were more exciting, this is the book that will make it exciting for you.

    Great Book!
By Sam from Atlanta, Ga on July 16, 2009
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
The only thing that keeps me from giving this book 5 stars is that it says on the back of the cover something about how to confess your sins, which I took to mean actual confession. Instead, what is covered in the book is the penitential rite during mass. However, this is only a small detail, and the subject of confession had no bearing on my buying the book. Otherwise an excellent book on the mass!
    WOW - a MUST Read
By kjindon from Prairieville, LA on January 22, 2009
Pros: Brings Mass to life; Deserves Multiple Readings; Informative; Page-Turner; Well Written
Best Uses: Gift; Great for RCIA students; Older Readers; Reference; Travel Reading; Younger Readers
    Describe Yourself: Everyday Reader
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Michael Dubriel has clearly explained all the parts and prayers of the Mass. All Catholics and all studying to become Catholic would do well to add this book to their library. Regular reading of it should enhace one's participation in the central most solemn ceremony of our faith.
