Throughout the history of the church, many Saints have been named the patrons of various causes, often based upon events and circumstances that happened in their lives. For instance, St. Joseph is the patron of workers since he worked hard throughout his life to take care of the holy family, and St. Maria Goretti is the patroness of purity since she was willing to die to protect her own purity. We honor these many of these Saints with patron Saint medals to commemorate their lives and to remember their valor as we face our own challenges on our personal road toward sainthood.
