Father McBride was born in Philadelphia and ordained a priest in 1953. Fr. Alfred McBride, O. Praem is the author of several well-known Catholic books and has lectured widely. In 1987 the U.S. Catholic bishops requested Fr. McBride to write the catechesis in preparation for Pope John Paul II pastoral visit to the United Sates. During this visit Fr. Alfred McBride also acted as an official representative to the media. Father Alfred McBride, O Praem has also served as a consultant on the Catechism for the Archdiocese of Boston.
