Fr. Hans Urs von Balthasar was a Roman Catholic priest and theologian. The works of Hans Urs von Balthasar reflect his views in response to modernism in the west. He is considered to be one of the most influential Catholic theologians of the 20th century. Fr. Urs von Balthasar was highly admired by Pope John Paul II. The Pope asked Hans Urs von Balthasar to be a cardinal, however he died two days before the ceremony.
