VERY ENGROSSIGING AND INSPIRATIONAL READ |

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend |
| As the title says, Liturgy of the Hour,it is read
at various times of the day. The book is very complete. The only drawback is the print size. It
is small and then smaller. My wish is that a Large
Print edition would be made available. I would buy
it in a minute. RB |

| This one volume version of the Liturgy of the Hours is easier to follow than other one volume versions I have tried. It is also the version that my parish uses for Morning Prayer. For example, some of the antiphons are printed both before and after the psalms and canticles, making this easier to follow, especially for folks new to the Hours. I use it every day for Morning, Daytime, and Evening Prayer. It is an excellent way to participate in the prayer of the Church, especially if one has been intimidated by the four volume Liturgy, published elsewhere. |

| This is a physically beautiful book. I start and end my day with it. Duties abound in our lives, but this allows quick access to the spiritual realm, which I personally need for balance. It is difficult to learn to pray the Liturgy Of The Hours, but the beauty found is an eternal treasure. I suggest one start with what is called the "Ordinary" on page 533. This is the skeleton of the prayer in ordinary time with no special feasts or seasons added. The Ordinary is only 14 pages long and explains the basics of morning, day time, and evening prayers.
Don't be afraid of this prayer book. It is Amazing! |

| Let me start off by saying that The Liturgy of the Hours is a wonderful practice to develop, if one has the time for it. Outside of a structured environment, as in a monastery, few of us take the effort to cram in formal prayer readings. But even if one has the time and desire, to effectively recite the Liturgy one needs Catholic guidance. This is not something you jump into. You may want to enlist the aid of a Third Order, perhaps one in your own parish. Another help may be the book "For Dodos", although I have not read it yet but have ordered it. |

| Font type and size make it readable, but if not already familiar with the reading of the Office then this is not the volume for you. The instructions where not written for a novice. |
