"No, fire and brimstone are going to fall from Heaven!" said others.

There was a long line in front of every confessional. Candlelight processions with the Blessed Sacrament wound through the streets. Stolen goods were being returned to their owners. Enemies were reconciled. Unbaptized children were baptized, marriages were rectified, debts were paid.
The Viceroy and the Archbishop held a hasty meeting. Then the Viceroy issued an order to his officers: "Go to the monastery and bring Father Francis here at once! We have to get to the bottom of this!"
