Simply Beautiful

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Simply put this is one of the most beautiful St. Benedict's crucifixes I have ever seen. The tone and sheen of the hematite is awe inspiring. This crucifix is solid, well crafted, and highly detailed and the corpus is firmly affixed to the cross. While it could be worn around the neck on a chain or cord, it would probably be a bit too heavy for that. I keep it in a small cloth bag to help protect it from other things in my pocket. I purchased this crucifix to use it as my pocket cross. I keep it with me all the time in my pocket, and whenever I feel the need for God's help to get me through something I take it out to remind me of God's presence with us at all times, and that He loves us and is there to help us face life's challenges. This crucifix helps give me strength to live a more Christian life, especially in a world that tends to forget God and the sacrifice Jesus made for our sakes. When I take it out I am reminded of Jesus' ultimate sacrifice and suddenly the little sacrifices I may be forced to make don't seem so difficult. I find it really helps when dealing with other people. During our day, we all encounter those types of people who really test or patience. When confronted by those types of people I simply reach into my pocket and hold onto my crucifix and I am reminded that we must love our fellow man as we love ourselves. I try to live my life according to the precepts laid down in St. Benedict's Holy Rule, ( as best I can without being in a monastery) and as this is a St. Benedict's cross, I get the added reminder that St. Benedict charges us all to deal with everyone we meet as though we are meeting Jesus.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I really, like this crucifix, which I currently wear daily, but will probably replace it with a better constructed one eventually. First, there are clear, distinct casting marks around the entire edge of the cross. Second, my sweat has stripped the dark lacquer off of the back of the cross leaving it shiny. Third, while the corpus seems well made, it is not silver as the inside of Our Lord's legs has turned a blue-green color. Fourth, the ring that connects the crucifix to a chain is poor quality with a relatively large gap where it should connect together. I worry that it may come off of my chain one day. I really want to love this crucifix because I think that aesthetically it is beautiful, but I wish it was made better. (I expected a little more from the Italians when it came to Catholic jewelry.) I would be willing to pay much more than I did for this one for a quality piece made in the same style.
