| This St. Elizabeth Seton Medallion, by Leonid Bodnia, is a print framed in a solid wood frame with glass. It measures 11 inches in diameter. Enlightened thinkers of the Renaissance looked upon the circle and the sphere as very special artistic forms, reminiscent of the universe itself. Creating a composition in the form of a circle was considered the height of artistic skill.
The works of Leonid Bodnia revive the lost Renaissance tradition of the church medallion [drawings]. The artist has developed a series of depictions of the Christian saints, using the unique techniques of the old masters. |
