Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
I am currently (as of this writing) enrolled in the RCIA program at St. Brigid's in Alpharetta, GA. our group study sessions use this book along with the Catholic Bible and other aids, and all I can say is it is incredibly well put together. Not a large, tedious book, but one that is useful as a guide that introduces the history and typology of the Bible while giving you the highlights of what a starting Catholic needs to get out of it. As the title suggests, Catholicism and Scripture, this is what you will get. Salvation History, the subtitle, is also treated as a more minor subject, leaving room for the instructors to fill in and advise, which is surely intentional. Great book to keep alongside your Bible to pull out when you read a section and need those pointers to "put it all together".
