Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
This item is really cute and my son was so excited when he got it. He took out the rosary to look at it and show his grandma and it broke. I reconnected the beads with a wire clasp and then an hour later the cross fell off. VERY cheaply made.

I gave this to our grandson for his First Communion. He loved it. I like that it came in a First Communion container.
