Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
I read the Bible every day with the daily reading book that came with it. I also read the Bible every day on my own, and I really feel that I am reading an exciting novel. I can understand it so well, I'm amazed! I grew up afundamental Baptist, and used to read the King James Version, and it was like reading Shakespear! Now I'm Catholic and get so much more out of the Bible than ever, thanks to the New American Bible. The footnotes and verse finders are a great help too!

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
I've always wanted to read the entire bible, but found the "cover-to-cover" method daunting. I started using the guide a month ago and find it very pleasant. I'm using the 2 year plan that slightly follows the liturgical calendar.I bought a new bible also for ease in carrying around. The combination is an excellent value also.
