On a recent buying trip to Loreto, Italy, we found these beautiful and colorful medals. This medal features a stunning and colorful image of "Ecce Homo" on a silver necklace. "Ecce Homo" means "Behold the Man" in Latin and is found in the Gospel of John. These words were pronounced by Pontius Pilate when he presented Jesus to the crowd after having Him scourged and crowned with thorns. The back of the Ecce Homo medal features the ancient Christian symbols of the Chi Rio (XP: The first two letters of "Christ" in Greek) combined with the Alpha and Omega symbols. Together the Ecce Homo image of Jesus and the Christian symbols identify Christ as God and Savior, making it an excellent visual witness of the Christian faith.
