Crucifixion TriptychCrucifixion Triptych
Order Now
$50.95

The word "triptych" comes from the Greek words tri, which means "three" and ptyche, which means "fold". A triptych is simply a piece of artwork that has been divided into three sections or panels. The panels are connected with a hinge so the piece can be folded up. Historically, triptychs have been used to decorate altars.

This beautiful triptych of "Crucifixion with the Virgin" is mounted on wood panels. By the Italian painter Pietro Perugino in 1485, the scene shows the Virgin Mary, St. John, St. Jerome and St. Mary Magdalene keeping watch at the crucifixion of Jesus. The original painting is an oil on canvas and can be found in the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.

This triptych measures 9 inches high and 9 1/2 inches wide when it is fully extended.

This is a new piece of artwork that we just added. The beauty of the colors and the details of the scenery make me feel as if I am standing at the cross, too.

Triumph - The Power and the Glory of the Catholic Church, a 2000 Year HistoryTriumph - The Power and the Glory of the Catholic Church, a 2000 Year History
Order Now
$18.95

Inside, you'll discover the spectacular story of the Church from Biblical times and the early days of St. Peter—the first pope—to the twilight years of John Paul II. It is a sweeping drama of Roman legions, great crusades, epic battles, toppled empires, heroic saints, and enduring faith. And, there are stormy controversies: Dark Age skullduggery, the Inquisition, the Renaissance popes, the Reformation, and more!

One of my selections is the book I am currently reading, Triumph by H.W.Crocker III. Triumph is a wonderful refresher for me of the many historical details I learned during 16 years of Catholic education, but have forgotten over the years. This book highlights the significant events that have led us in the Catholic faith to where we are today.  Perhaps the subtitle says it best: The Power and the Glory of the Catholic Church. I look forward to the evenings when I have time to read, as with every page of this book there is typically a historical event that I vaguely remember that is being retold in a clear concise manner.

My dream is to have each of the disciples - Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John - displayed in icon form in our home. The icons remind us of the New Testament which was written by these disciples with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Olivewood Roman Crucifix with Gift Insets - 15.5 inchOlivewood Roman Crucifix with Gift Insets
Order Now
$98.00

Uniquely hand crafted in Bethlehem, from branches of ancient olive trees of The Holy Land, this crucifix is a masterpiece. The three arch-like ends around the four corners of this cross represent the Trinity; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Three on each side, with four ends makes a beautiful representation of the Twelve Disciples.

The cross itself is made from 14 pieces of olivewood, to remind us of the 14 Stations of the Cross and the Via Dolorosa. Each end of the cross has one authentic gift from the Holy Land embedded; Water from Jordan River, anointing olive oil, dry rose pedals of Jerusalem flowers and incense from Bethlehem. This is an exquisite keepsake for lifetime and makes a unique gift for beloved ones. Measures 15.5"H x 9.5"W.

Each piece of olive tree wood is unique and this variation of the natural wood grain makes each piece slightly different in color.

Olivewood is one of my favorite types of wood; not only for the rich color, but for the fragrance of olives that sometimes clings to the wood. This crucifix is a link back to the land where Jesus lived.
