In the west of Ireland
is a beautiful region
called the Connemara ~
meaning "of the sea".

Covering part of County Galway
west of Lough Corrib,
Connemara is a picturesque setting.
Often described as rugged,
Connemara is bounded by the Owenglin River,
and the Atlantic Ocean to the west, south and north.
Four mountain ranges rise from the sea, reaching for the sky:
the Twelve Bens, Maum Turks, Partry and Sheffrey.

Mountains in the Connemara region of Ireland

From the earliest times, the Gaelic tribes
called this area Conmaicnemara,
or "the tribe of Cormac by the sea".
These tribes were the ones who first discovered
the treasure hidden in the mountains.

Ireland is famous for being lush and green.
From the shamrocks, to St. Patrick's vestments,
to the rolling farmland,
a visit to Ireland is one filled with vibrant green.
But the green of Ireland is more than superficial.
As the early tribes discovered,
the mountains themselves are green -
made of gorgeous green marble!

Close-up of Connemara Marble

The treasured marble from Connemara
has been used as a means of trade for centuries.
Prized for its quality and unique shades of green,
the marble has been used in buildings, for jewelry,
and most especially for gifts.
With each piece of green marble,
you feel as if you are touching the heart of Ireland.

Since the time of St. Patrick in the 400's,
Ireland has retained a strong
Catholic spirituality.
Some of the first Irish rosaries were made
by monks of the great settlements like Cashel,
Clonmacnoise and Glendalough.
Using the horns of animals, they fashioned beads
of natural beauty and simple strength.
Their strength in particular put them much in demand
in medieval Europe,
where the rosary was a widely observed meditation,
and personal link with the Creator.

This tradition continues today
with the skilled craftsmen in County Galway
who quarry the beautiful Connemara Marble.
Next, artists in Dublin refine the marble
into large, cubed beads.

Finally, each bead is linked together with
extra strong double-link chain.
This durable chain will not catch on your clothes,
cannot be pulled apart,
and will ensure that you never lose a single bead.

The heaviness of the stones is offset
by a very light metal
Celtic Crucifix and Marian centerpiece.

If you look closely at the crucifix
you will see a Celtic Cross
engraved with triangular Celtic Knots
symbolizing the Holy Trinity.
This double-sided crucifix also has
the Trinity Knots on the back,
as well as the word Erin
(the Irish word for Ireland).

The centerpiece features Our Lady,
surrounded by a crown of twelve stars.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus is on the reverse.

of such beauty that is a tool to pray and meditate

Blessed Mother that also symbolizes
my Irish heritage.

Excellent Quality
Ordered for my sons Confirmation.
I was very impressed with the quality of the links.
My husband has a different one and is constantly
sending it for repair. The rosary is large.
You will need a little bit larger case for it
if you want one.
-- Mom of 4 (Arizona)

Beautiful!
Purchased for a Confirmation gift for my
Irish nephew. Wanted something unique
that would make it an heirloom, reminding us
of our ancestors and their homeland
to pass down to his children one day.
This rosary was perfect! He loved it!
Buying more for my 20 year old son
and another for myself!

Elegant marble rosary
My rosary was a Christmas gift
from a very special friend many years ago,
I've been using it twice a day ever since
and it looks like if I just took it out of the box.
