Around the outside of the medal reads "St. Michael Protect Us U.S. Army" The back of the medal contains a small image of St Michael, with enough space to add personalization.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
I purchased this medal for my son-in-law, he's active duty Army stationed in Afghanistan. His name happens to be Michael! I felt that this would be an extra boost to the prayers we send for God's protection and guidance. I had it engraved (for FREE!!) with his initials so it'd be as special for him as he is to us.
