Jesus EucharistEaster is a beautiful time to deepen our devotion to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.  The Pascal Mystery which we celebrate in a special way during the Easter Triduum—the Passion, death and bodily resurrection of Christ—is daily present to us in the Eucharist.  The Church teaches that Jesus is really, truly, and actually there—Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity—in the Holy Eucharist.

Unfortunately it is all to easy, due to human weakness, to begin to lose our sense of awe, wonder, and adoration of Our Lord in the Eucharist.

A great way to reinvigorate our belief and to encourage devotion to Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament is by reading accounts of Eucharistic miracles that have occurred throughout the ages of the Church, from the earliest years to modern times. In fact, Jesus gives us these miracles throughout the centuries so that our love for him in the Eucharist will not wane or grow cold.

If you haven’t had the chance to visit a Eucharistic Miracle exhibit, I highly recommend it.  You can read many of the accounts online at the Real Presence Eucharistic Education and Adoration Association website.  Click on the “English” tab and scroll down until you see “Miracles by Country”.   Each of those hyperlinks opens to a PDF document of various documented, Church-verified accounts of Eucharistic Miracles.

One recent account of a scientifically analyzed Eucharistic Miracle was witnessed by our own Pope Francis while he was Cardinal Bergoglio.  We’ve included two accounts for you below, a blog article written about the miracle as well as a YouTube video by one of the witnesses. Hopefully reading and viewing these accounts will deepen your awe and reverence when receiving Holy Communion, and also encourage you to spend more time in Eucharistic Adoration.

Cardinal Bergoglio’s Eucharistic Miracle in Argentina

A recent documented account of a Eucharistic Miracle took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1996 under the leadership of Cardinal Bergoglio, now Pope Francis:

At seven o’clock in the evening on August 18, 1996, Fr. Alejandro Pezet was saying Holy Mass at a Catholic church in the commercial center of Buenos Aires. As he was finishing distributing Holy Communion, a woman came up to tell him that she had found a discarded host on a candleholder at the back of the church. On going to the spot indicated, Fr. Alejandro saw the defiled Host. Since he was unable to consume it, he placed it in a container of water and put it away in the tabernacle of the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament. On Monday, August 26, upon opening the tabernacle, he saw to his amazement that the Host had turned into a bloody substance. He informed Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio, who gave instructions that the Host be professionally photographed. The photos were taken on September 6. They clearly show that the Host, which had become a fragment of bloodied flesh, had grown significantly in size. For several years the Host remained in the tabernacle, the whole affair being kept a strict secret. Since the Host suffered no visible decomposition, Cardinal Bergoglio decided to have it scientifically analyzed. Read more here.

There is a definite increase in most unusual phenomena which science simply cannot explain.
If several natural phenomena not enough about our world being at a very dangerous tipping point, God is also trying to warn us in many other ways to “get real” and to return to Him and His rules for living – as there is no other way to peace in the world and in our hearts. One example: we are on the verge of famine in many areas of the world because bees (essential for pollination of crops) are on such a severe decline, so that bees are now the new subjects for ransom and farmers are forced, in many parts of the world, to call upon bee-hiring to pollinate their crops.

God is trying to warn the world – also in many parts of the globe – through Mary, His Mother. In many parts of the world, statutes of Mary and of Himself are crying (real) tears, and tears of blood which has been scientifically examined and CT-scanned for any “trickery”. The tears were found to be indeed human tears and CT-scanning has found NO means of producing fake “tears”. See video: Tears from Heaven – forewarning of dangers to come for humanity if they fail to return to God and note that these same phenomena also occurred several times before in history – just before terrible catastrophic events historical events, eg before both World Wars.

Yes I believe that the Eucharist is Jesus the “Bread of Heaven” strengthening us against evil and sung about so enthusiastically by the Welsh.

God can only say: I have given you the gift of Free Will, but I now withdraw my protection completely as you have voted for Satan to be your leader).

So the omniscient, omnipotent, intrinsically benevolent, creator of the universe turns a cracker into heart tissue. That’s the best He can do? There are millions of innocent children suffering and dying all over the world. God does nothing to help to help these people; He just turns a cracker into blood? And this gets Catholics all excited? I guess I just don’t get you people.

  7. says

Hi Tom, how do you know that God does nothing to help the innocent who suffer? Have you spoken with them? Do you know the reasons that he may allow suffering? Could God be helping them in ways that you don’t understand? Are you more benevolent than God? What are you doing to help ease the suffering of others that you see? Do you understand suffering better than him? What about Jesus’ suffering? What was the cause of his suffering? It was our sin. And our sin is the same cause of suffering that exists around the world today. Yet, it is because of Jesus’ suffering that we have the Blessed Sacrament. If the Eucharist is truly the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Christ as Christianity has historically taught, then Christ giving us his very life and body to be united with ours is the highest form of communion with the Divine to be achieved in this life, and a foretaste of how we will be eternally united with him in heaven. Through the Eucharist we receive God’s own Divine Life. Without faith it is impossible to see how God may be working on earth. But with faith you can see his action everywhere, most especially in the grace that the Eucharist gives us. Pray for an increase in faith, and pray for God to help you understand his Real Presence in the Eucharist, and how he helps those who suffer around the world.

I am looking for information, this is not a comment.
This is the first I heard about this miracle. I am going to Buenos Aires soon and I wanted to visit St. Mary’s but I can’t find the address. Could you give it to me?

  9. Julius A.A. says

I wholeheartedly believe. Not just because of this miracle but that I have personally and intimately experienced him beyond doubt when a petition to the Blessed Sacrament turned a very grave situation of 13 years of unheeded plea by some certain authorities to my advantage. They started looking for me to claim a PhD degree that I have that long been denied!!!

  10. Paul J Gonzales says

Re: Tom Mulrenin’s 10/16 comments. None of us is privy to all (let alone 1 or 2 ) of the miracles of God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.

That is by design, because God wants our love for him to be based on faith, not certainty.

But let’s look at this turning of a “cracker” into Human heart tissue. You probably don’t believe that is true. However, let’s, for the sake of argument, say you accept the truth, think of the miracle which occurred.

Our “omniscient, omnipotent, intrinsically benevolent” Creator changed the very nature of matter! Not only did he do this now, but he did the same thing about a thousand years ago, before Humans ever considered the possibility of genetic engineering. Even today the best Humans can do is alter a gene or two through scientific intervention.

Being able to change the basic substance of matter gets this Catholic pretty excited! In many ways, it is God providing proof to all of us doubting Thomas’ that he exists and is omniscient and omnipotent. God bless you, Tom.

I am so grateful and humbled by the true astonishing eucharistic miracle that happen in the small gap of years before the 21st century. I think is a great message to increase the faith of the postmodern faithful who gone dry in faith. I believe and I will spread it.
