Everything You Need to know about the Divine Mercy Devotion

The Divine Mercy devotion is a modern devotion to the attribute of God’s infinite mercy and was promulgated by St. Faustina Kowalska and later the the Universal Church by Pope John Paul II (“The Mercy Pope”).

This devotion is multifaceted and involves a divinely inspired image (pictured above) with attached promises for it’s veneration, vocal prayers (the Divine Mercy chaplet and Divine Mercy Novena), a book (The Diary of Faustina Kowalska), a Holy Hour (3 o’clock), and a solemn feast day with attached indulgences (Divine Mercy Sunday).

The Scapular Devotion of Pope John Paul II

Pope John Paul II

Pope John Paul II had a great devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and as such faithfully wore a scapular (notice him wearing his scapular in the above photo).

He is reported to have worn a brown scapular since he was a boy, and he insisted that doctors not remove it during surgery following the assassination attempt on his life in May of 1981.
