A wonderful gift for the new couple, this popular Irish Wedding Blessing was delicately painted by a Celtic artist in the original monastic tradition. Measures 8 x 10 inches and is gold-framed. Before the invention of the printing press, monastic artists hand lettered, illuminated, and painted books and scrolls on parchment. Celtic artist, Kevin Dillon, has rediscovered the same techniques used by these ancient monks. He crushes semi-precious stones to make his own paints. Using a goose quill, the letters are meticulously applied to the calf skin vellum. One at a time, the colors are applied - first blue, then red, then each color in turn. The final illumination is achievd using 24K gold leaf. The artist's seal is imprinted into molten wax at the bottom of each piece making every print unique.
