Adolphe-William Bouguereau was a famous portrait artist born in La Rochelle France on November 30,1825. He followed the classical style of 16th century painters such as Raphael. Bouguereau painted for a number of Catholic Churches throughout the latter 1800s. He died in 1905. Double-matted with prayer and 2" dark frame. Prayer reads, "Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi...Miserere nobis!" 8" x 14".
