The Littlest Gargoyle's name is Dedo. He sits on top of the Cathedral of Notre Dame. In this story, he tells us about the life of the nun who created him - Sister Marie Therese.

Sister Marie Therese was a young nun from the Benedictine Order in Provence, France. She is intrigued when she hears about the gargoyle waterspouts that are being created for the Cathedral of Notre Dame, which is under construction. She finds the gargoyles so facinating that she disguises herself as a young boy and travles to Paris in hopes of learning how to create gargoyles. When she arrives she tries to become an apprentice to the master of the gargoyle maker, a very mean man named Flaubert. While in Paris she meets meets many different people and makes lasting friendships. Through her experience she learns about patience and the love of God.
