This was a gift for my daughter's First Communion. It is beautiful and she loves it. My only disappointment is that it is not just slightly larger so that you could read the prayer surrounding Mary. "Oh Mary conceived without Sin, Pray for us who have recourse to Thee." I know the prayer so I know that is what the bumps on the necklace say, if you didn't know the prayer you would not be able to read it. I will just have to teach her it. It would have been nice if a pamphlet explaning the medal would have come with it. My daughter is quite tall for 8 yrs old and the 18" necklace is perfect on her. It falls very slightly below the neckline of most shirts she wears.

I don't wear the medal it was a gift. I don't really have any complaints. My mother loves it, it's just hard to clasp.
