About the Author
Joseph Langford has conducted retreats on Mother Teresa's spirituality throughout the world and currently resides at the Missionaires of Charity Fathers' mother house in Tijuana, Mexico. He began his long association with Mother Teresa while studying Theology in Rome. In 1983, she invited him to be the co-founder of her priests' community, the Missionaries of Charity Fathers.

In early 1984, he finally had both the reason and the opportunity to tell Mother of what had been his long search to better understand her "inspiration", and his desire to describe it accurately in their community's constitution. If his assumptions were true, he did not want to leave it out of their constitutions, but if it were not, he did not want to continue being in error.

He waited in silence for an answer. She looked up and said, "Yes, it is true." Then after a pause, she added, "and one day you must tell others..."

More than a confirmation, her words that day in 1984 were a mandate. Mother Teresa had always known her message was meant for all of us.
