After years of scholarly labor and review, the first major update to the New American Bible (NAB) text in 20 years is approved for publication. The New American Bible Revised Edition (NABRE) accomplishes three major goals in Biblical scholarship: First, a more accurate translation aided by modern archeological and historical discoveries; second, a more consistent rendering of the Greek and Hebrew to more closely express the meaning of the original text; and third, revisions in the NABRE reflect changes in modern English usage of particular words (ex. "burnt offering" substituted for "holocaust").

Note:  The Bible readings used in the current missals & lectionaries & LOTH use an older version of the NAB translation that has now been updated in all the new NAB Catholic Bibles currently being printed.  For this reason, this NAB Bible will be close (but not exactly word-for-word) to the readings you will hear at Mass.  It is not possible to purchase an older NAB translation to exactly match the Mass readings, because they are no longer in print.

Who needs gold foil?

Comments here about the personalization almost steered me away, but it is a very classy look. Perfectly visible letters as they are more deeply cut than I imagined...gives a sense of permanence. The words 'Holy Bible' are also stamped without color/foil, so all letters are black on black...understated elegance. Newly confirmed teen is thrilled.

daily reading. The red type for Jesus' words would be more useful if the font was larger. The small black font is hard to read, and the red even harder at that size.

I purchased this as a gift. I especially liked the flow of the text and the pros noted above. I was very disappointed in the Personalization. It was placed asymetrically across the lower front. I expected the letters to be smaller, in the lower right corner, with gold foil to match the edge of the pages. In comparison to the text print of a Bible that I have yours is dull and lacks clarity. To me the Bible is oversized for personal use.

I read the Bible each day, and because I am a senior the larger print font size 12 would have been better. Disappointed in the print..sometimes difficult to read.

I feel it is a good value. The cons mentioned, bound too tightly, making the inside of the pages difficult to read without spreading the book. If offered the option, gold embossing on purchasers name would be a nice touch.

Bought this as a Confirmation gift for my son. He was very happy with the look of it and that it has his name and the date of his Confirmation on the cover. I like the idea that this is a family Bible that he will have for the rest of his life. We both agree that it is nice that he can start keeping a log of his current family happenings, along with his future family, on the pages provided. I will be purchasing another one, in two years, for my daughter.
