A gruff yet godly man, Padre Pio (1887-1968) was a healer and mystic. He aspired to great holiness, both for himself and for the many people who came to him for spiritual direction. For the final fifty years of his life, Padre Pio silently endured both the physical pain of his stigmata aand times of persecution. However, even when under church discipline, Padre Pio was graced with amazing gifts that enabled him to carry out his ministry until the day he died.
