On a recent buying trip to Loreto, Italy, we found these beautiful Marian necklaces featuring full-color Our Lady images displayed on a small oval medal with a clear enamel coating. This particular necklace, featuring the famous Our Lady of Perpetual Help icon, is especially lovely. The icon features a distinct Byzantine style dating from the 14th century and is very popular among Orthodox and Catholic Christians. The story behind this image is that one day two angels – Michael and Gabriel – appeared to the toddler Jesus, holding in their hands the cross and the tools of the crucifixion. The child Jesus ran quickly to his mother to seek consolation. The original Our Lady of Perpetual Help icon currently resides in a church in Rome under the care of the Redemptorists, but you can display it every day with this beautiful medal. This Marian medal necklace makes a wonderful gift for anyone with a devotion to Our Blessed Mother.
