Murrine-style glass is formed by sections of multi-colored glass rods, then melted together -- a technique used in Egypt between the 3rd and 1st Centuries BC. This glass cross comes on an adjustable braided cord, and is also available in other colors (enter "murrine" in the Search box). I gave this to my 5yo daughter for her birthday and she loves it. The price is perfect for a small child but its nice enough that she feels special wearing it. The only negative- its not as purple as the one in the picture, but she loves it anyway.
