Rev. Lawrence L. Lovasik was born of Slovak parents just north of Pittsburgh, PA. As a young boy, Rev. L. Lovasik S.V.D., was sent to Sacred Heart Mission Seminary, where young boys trained to become Priests. After finishing his education, Rev. Lovasik went on to work in the steel and coal regions of the United States. While working with the people in those areas, Rev. L. Lovasik published a standard prayer book and other brochures in the Slovak language to benefit those he worked with. From here, Rev. Lovasik went on to publish many more books, much of which was for children. Rev. L. Lovasik also believed in teaching via the use of visual aids. This accounts for the rich colors and expressive illustrations in Rev. Lovasik’s books.
