The first section of the ritual, marking the steps of the spiritual journey into the full communion of the Catholic Church, offers the procedures and periods that make up the full rite. The convenience of the minister has been the guiding principle in choosing the format and designing the presentation of the rites. Required readings and psalms are cited only, since, to preserve liturgical norms, they will be proclaimed from a Lectionary or Bible.
