Round Sacred Heart of Jesus Medal, with inscribed beveled borders, with shiny, flat back, made of 14K Yellow Gold.

The sizes available are: Small - 15MM; Medium - 18MM; and Large - 22MM.

Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus has a long history in the church, but gained immense popularity as a result of several visits that Jesus made to a young lady – Margaret Mary Alocoque, living in Paray le Monial, France. The visits continued when Margaret Mary became a Visitation nun. During the most famous of the visits, on June 16, 1675, Jesus appeared to Sister (now St.) Margaret Mary while she was praying in front of the Blessed Sacrament. He showed forth His heart; surrounded by thorns, glowing with flames and surmounted by a cross. Pointing to His heart He said “Behold this heart which has loved men so, but I receive from the majority of men only coldness and ingratitude. Will you at least console me in this Sacrament of Love?” The medal depicts the apparition. The feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is celebrated on the First Friday following the feast of Corpus Christi. © 2006
