Product Description

Although the artist is unknown, this cross is well-known as the one beneath which St. Francis was praying when the Lord commissioned him to rebuild the Church. More of an icon than a cross, it artistically features images of people who bring special meaning to the cross itself. The five major witnesses to Christ’s crucifixion: Mother Mary, St. John the Beloved, Mary Magdalene, Mary mother of James, and the Centurion. Also shown are minor witnesses -- angels, patron saints, apostles. At top is an image of the resurrected Jesus surrounded by angels. The original San Damiano cross hangs in the Santa Chiara (St. Claire) Church in Assisi, Italy. This gorgeous replica is made of hand-painted resin-stone mix. Measures 18"H x 13.25"W x 1.5"D.

Bottom Line:	Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. It is a absolutely stunning cross. Church quality. I have it on the wall next to my bed and touch Jesus' feet every night. I am pleased I bought the larger one because it makes a statement from across the room you can see it clearly. I wish it would have come with an outline depicting the names of the saints and apostles in their order on the cross. Otherwise, a great crucifix.

Bottom Line:	Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. I got this product with high expectations which it surpassed. But when I opened the box a bit of cardboard swiftly touched it and below the Lords's feet a chip of blue paint came off. The chip isn't that big but every time I look at the cross my eye directs me to it. Other than this small issue I'm completely 100% happy.

The incredible fine detail and high quality craftmanship is just awesome and it is absolutely perfect as the centerpiece of our home altar, for which I had ordered it for! It far surpassed my original expectations!
