Round St. Anthony Medal -- hand painted porcelain -- with inscription on back, with frame and filligree border made of 10K yellow gold. The size, in millimeters, is 26.00.

St. Anthony was born in Lisbon and given the name of Ferdinand. At an early age he joined the Canons Regular of St. Augustine, but later joined the new order of Friars minor founded by the great St. Francis of Assisi, where he zealously applied himself to prayer and study. One day at a general meeting of the order, no one had prepared a sermon, and Anthony, unexpectedly, was invited to speak to the group. He amazed all who were present with his eloquence and knowledge of scripture and theology. The rest of his life was filled with miracles; he was canonized within a year of his death, so well known was his reputation – even by the pope – of his personal holiness. St. Anthony is the patron saint and helper of persons who are looking for things they lost. © 2006
