St. Claude De Colombiere
Claude de la Colombière was a missionary, and theological writer. He became a fervent promoter of the devotion to the Sacred Heart after being spiritual director to Blessed Margaret Mary. He traveled to many places in England and France, preaching to the crowds, and became the personal preacher to the Duchess of York, who afterward became the Queen of Great Britain. Claude developed a throat and lung disease which took away much of his zeal for preaching and soon thereafter he was arrested for being a conspirator and sentenced to exile where he spent the last two years of his life.
