St. Daniel
St. Daniel was a Stylite, which comes from the Greek word meaning pillar. He resolved to live on a pillar, and therefore a series of pillars were erected for him by Emperor Leo I. Daniel was ordained on top of his pillar. He celebrated the Eucharist, and preached sermonds daily, which attracted crowds of people to him. Daniel also cured many of the sick who were brought up to him. Daniel lived on his pillar for 33 years before his death in 493. St. Daniel's feast day is celebrated on December 11th.
