St. Frances Xavier

Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini (1850-1917) is the patron of immigrants, orphans, and hospital administrators. Pope Leo XIII entrusted her with founding the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart. In 1889, she moved with this new order from Italy to New York. Saint Francis Xavier Cabrini then founded 67 institutions consisting of schools, orphanages, and hospitals throughout the Western Hemisphere. She became a US citizen and was the first US citizen to be canonized. Her ministry left a significant mark on the US. Not only did she tend to the poor and the sick, but she created lasting institutions to educate and care for those in need. St. Frances Xavier Cabrini's feast day is November 13th.
