This beautiful Celtic Cross was inspired by the ancient High Crosses of Ireland. From the fifth through the twelfth centuries, the Celtic Church began carving crosses around their monastaries depicting scenes from the Bible. Today, as many as 200 such crosses, either whole or in fragments, still exist around Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The original St. John's Cross, measuring 17 feet tall, was carved in the 8th century in the Isle of Iona, and represents rebirth in Christ. This St. John's Cross was handcrafted from cast stone and measures 15" x 8". A wonderful addition to any home, office, or parish. Indoor/outdoor use.
