Product Description

This Sterling Silver US Army St. Michael Medal measures approximately 1" in diameter and comes on a 20" sterling silver chain. Around the top are the words "United States Army". Around the bottom are the words "St. Michael Protect Me." The back of medal is blank. Gift box included.

The medal includes the image of the Great Seal of the United States. At the center is a bald eagle with its wings displayed holding 13 arrows in the left talon whcih represent the 13 original states. In the right talon is an olive branch, usually with 13 leaves and 13 olives. The scroll in the eagle's beak has the motto, "E pluribus unum - Out of Many, One". Over the eagle's head are 13 stars.

I bought this for my nephew who is being deployed to Iraq in April, 2010. I "googled" patron saint of Soldiers, and found that there are three: St. George, St. Joan of Arc, and St. Michael.
