This unique saint medal was hand carved and cast in lead-free pewter by an American artisan from Mississippi and features St. Monica on one side and St. Augustine on the other. The relationship between St. Augustine, one of the greatest Christian thinkers, and his mother, St. Monica, was a long, loving tussle finally resolved in harmony. Monica, always a Christian, raised Augustine in the faith, but in his late teens, he began to go his own way living a dissolute life well into adulthood. Monica, ever persistent, followed him, continuing to urge him to become a Christian. A faithful prayer warrior, her prayers were finally answered and St. Augustine not only came to faith in God but also became one of the most important theologians in Church hisory. This pendant/mini-statue has Monica on one side, Augustine on the other. Along the side of the piece are the Latin for son (filius) and mother (mater). This medal comes with a small saint card, making this great to give as a gift.
