Recently, we discovered the Pasquini family of artisans in the rolling hills outside of Lucca, Italy. The St. Rita Statue is one of their many works of art. This exquisite statue is molded and painted with careful attention to detail found all of the Pasquini works of art. The St. Rita Statue is also made of sturdy resin in order to ensure that it will be a long-lasting work of art in any home, office, or parish. Saint Rita is well remembered for living a life of great sorrow as she buried both her sons and husband. She lived as a wife, mother, widow, and nun. St. Rita is depicted often, including on this statue, with a head wound due to a mystical stigmata of a thorn from Christ's crown of thorns. St. Rita is also portrayed with roses at her feet because it was her dying wish that she receive a rose in January when usually none would be found, but a visitor found one rose on rose bush at her home which was otherwise barren. The St. Rita statue reminds us of this extraordinary saint. She is the patron saint of impossible causes, hopeless cases, and difficult marriages.
