Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
I purchased 27" for my wife and 30" for me. Smooth stainless. No hair pulling. No rough scraping. Medals don't climb up the chain but hang nicely. It doesn't easily tangle with other neck chains. It has no hook so one must use a split ring for a medal, etc if not provided to hang it -- a fairly easy process. So won't break at the hook!
