The medal is just beautiful and I like the larger size of it so that you can read the inscription and clearly see the picture. The chain has links that have been soldered and they aren't completely smooth. Under a jeweler's loupe you can see little barbs and that make the chain quite scratchy. I purchased a new chain. But it was the medal I was most interested in when I purchased this and I LOVE the medal. Very very pleased.

I get lots of compliments on this medal, as people who are not of the faith think it is a necklace. I wear it proudly, as Mary is very special to me and I finally have her most precious medal at nearly 68 years of age!! It could be worn under clothing, so as to accommodate wearing a different necklace or pendant for special occassions. Chain may tarnish in time, I'm not sure, and figure of Mary should be displayed more beautifully, but otherwise, I love it.
