Details

St. Chrisopher medals are perhaps the most popular patron saint medals of all time.  This sterling silver St. Christopher medal features the words, "St. Christopher, protect us" with room for personalization on the back.  Saint Christopher lived during the earliest centuries of Christianity.  The tradition attributed to him is that he was a strong man who served Christ by helping travelers to cross a dangerous river.  One day a child asked to be carried across the river.  St. Christopher obliged the request, but as he carried the child on his shoulders, the child became heavier and heavier so that he could barely make it across the river.  At the other side the child revealed himself as Jesus, and told him that the immense weight he bore was the weight of world's sin.  This is why St. Christopher is always depicted carrying the child Jesus with water imagery in the background.  Because of this tradition, Saint Christopher is the patron saint of travelers and athletes.

I bought this necklace for my nephew for his First Communion. It was a big hit with my nephew and whole family. It's substantial enough that he can wear it now and through adulthood. Its sturdy chain is ideal for a boy, and it's nice that it does not have a clasp but slips right over his head. I had the back engraved with the First Communion date and my nephew's initials. I hope he wears it for years and years to come.

My pilot boyfriend never takes it off. It was a gift for him wear. Jeweler who engraved it said "it was the nicest St. Christopher hes seen to date" (with all the detail work with shiney look vs. dull, carving etc..) The chain could have been a tad longer however. Hard to get over his big head! (One inch longer would have been better). [...], nice case. Very pleased with purchase overall.
