Timothy McDermott joined the Dominican Order in 1947 and taught theology at Cambridge University and at Stellenbosch in South Africa. He collaborated in the sixty-volume translation of the Summa published in the 1960s. Retired in 1986, he is currently a visiting associate professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
