Do you have a child who is into everything? Your energetic, bubbly child is often the center of attention and sometimes in the middle of trouble!
Or perhaps you have a child who is just the opposite: quiet, studious, and slow to warm up in social situations.
Then there's the future lawyer: that argumentative, willful child who sometimes makes you want to pull your hair out.
As parents, we all have, at one time or another, wondered: Where did this child come from? Why isn t he just like me? Am I doing something wrong?
You are not doing anything wrong, and there is very likely nothing wrong with your child! The differences described above are all differences in God-given temperament. When you understand your child's unique temperament, you will have the key to unlocking his behavior, moods, and motivational forces.
The end result is not only more effective discipline for day-to-day adventures but also a lifelong recognition of how to nurture your child's strengths as a loving and supportive parent, teacher, or grandparent. Become an active, compassionate participant in your child s social and spiritual formation and bring peace, happiness, and holiness to your family in the way God intended.
Art and Laraine Bennett provide an accessible synthesis of classical wisdom, modern counseling, science, Catholic spirituality, and wonderful storytelling to the four basic temperaments that serve as the foundation of one's personality and approach to life. This is the authors third book on the topic of temperaments, sharing not only their professional expertise but also their personal life experiences. They have been married for thirty-four years and have four children one each of the four temperament types!

|Review:||I wish this had been available when my kids were younger, although there are still many helpful insights which are helping me stay connected to my college-age children. The techniques and ideas for how to best communicate with the different temperaments have already made a difference in our family. I plan to buy several of these to have on hand and give them as baby shower gifts, etc. As a Family Practice physician, I've recommended this to many parents expressing frustrations with difficulty relating to their children or not understanding why their children respond to situations in certain predictable patterns. Best Uses: Gift for parents, Parenting relationships; Pros: Easy To Understand, Very insightful, Very readable|

|Review:||I bought this for my daughter and her husband who have two little boys; 3 and 21 months. They are completely different little boys and as their Grandma, I loved reading it, too. It is a quick read and so helpful and written by faithful Catholic parents for other Catholic parents who want to understand their children's unique God-given personalities! I highly recommend it! Pros: awesome, Faithful, Helpful, Informational, Truly Catholic, Trustworthy, Wonderful|

|Review:||I think this book is great-I love how the authors explained the updated temperaments (basically combining classical Greek temperaments with modern psychology) and then used real-life examples to show how they apply to kids-and how parents can better reach kids with different personality types than their own. I wish they had discussed more how the different personality types are manifested in toddlers/pre-schoolers, because it seems like they mainly focused on older kids. Maybe they need to write a book about "the temperament God gave your baby" too, lol. I received a free copy from the Catholic Company for review purposes but with no strings attached-my opinions are all honest and my own! Best Uses: Grandparents, parents, Teachers; Cons: Focused on older kids; Pros: Clear, Easy To Read, Real-life examples, Sensible|
