  • The Biblical Basis for Purgatory
  • An answer to those who deny that purgatory is in the Bible
  • Clear, concise, and a very helpful read
  • Learn how Purgatory is misunderstood even by Catholics

Jesus taught us about it, and for centuries the Church has faithfully defined and defended it. Protestants deny it even exists, while many Catholics fundamentally misunderstand it. It is Purgatory: that place of purifying penance where souls saved by Christ are made perfect and acceptable to spend life eternal in heaven.

In The Biblical Basis for Purgatory, author and apologist John Salza (Why Catholics Cannot Be Masons) offers the definitive scriptural explanation of this distinctively Catholic doctrine. Building on the teachings of Christ and St. Paul, he shows how the existence of a place of temporal punishment after death is not only a logical extension of what we know about the reality of sin and God's justice, but is also a supreme expression of God's love and mercy.

Although Purgatory is a place of mercy, its pains are real, and they are severe. This book does more than defend and explain Purgatory it provides a solid plan, drawn from the Church s perennial wisdom for conquering our sins by God's grace, while still on earth.

You Need to Read This Book

So much emphasis has been placed on God's mercy, we neglect what Jesus told us about God's Justice. This book is thought provoking, intense, well documented and well written. It has become one of the most appreciated books our Bible Study group has read. Our conversations have been engrossing, and we find ourselves recommending this book to every one of our family members and friends. Please read this amazing book!

    The Bibkical Basis for Purgatory

I have not quite finished this book yet. I am not really into what the author has written. By looking at the title and thinking about it, I should have realized that it would be somewhat dry for reading. My fault! Not the author or your company.

    Great tool

I bought this book to answer my husband's questions about why we pray for the dead. I've read the book, but I now have to approach him on the subject as he firmly believes there are only two options at death.

    A must read

First book I've read on purgatory and I must admit it can be frightening. What it did do was get me praying for my grandmother who died over a year ago. I was certain she was in heaven the day she died because she loved her God, Jesus and the Virginia Mary/plus suffering the last 5 years of her life with dementia and a heart condition, but now I'm not so sure. So I've been praying for her soul that she will be lifted to heaven by God's angels.

    The Biblical Basis for Purgatory

Extremely disturbing beginning. Had to put book down for a few days to overcome fear of death and purgatory. Never read such explicit sufferings of souls eventually bound for heaven. Luckily the ending made everything much more attainable with actual plans to follow to help souls and ourselves. A must read for those who really want to become informed concerning purgatory and our ability to alleviate the suffering by works on earth.
