Mother Angelica

Mother Angelica was born in 1923 in Canton, Ohio. Her father abandoned the family when she was 5 years old; because of this, she and her mother struggled with poverty throughout her childhood. She became seriously ill in her teenage years but a miracle cured her. She felt God's call to embrace the religous life, and joined the Poor Clares when she was 21. In 1961 she founded Our Lady Of the Angels Monastery. In 1978 she founded a television ministry. It is now world-renowned: EWTN, the Eternal Word Television Network. Mother Angelica passed away on Easter Sunday, March 27th, 2016.
