This distinctive and beautiful image of Our Lady of China, also known as The Great Mother, presents Mary as she was seen in an apparition in 1900 in Donglu, China. During the Boxer Rebellion, soldiers attacked the village where the Vincentian Order had founded a Community. It is said that Our Lady appeared in white alongside St. Michael, who chased away the soldiers. Donglu became a place of pilgrimage and in 1973 the Holy See approved her feast day.

The vibrant and graceful image features the caption, "Our Lady of China, pray for us" in English and Chinese. Our Lady holds the Christ Child and they stand amidst a cloud of smoke from St. Michael as a fiery horseman. The sun is behind Our Lady and birds surround her.
